Re-Sanding Block Paved Areas
When we are asked to provide a quote for the cleaning of a block paved area, we always break the price down giving you a price for the cleaning and a price for the re-sanding individually. The reason for this is the block paved area needs to thoroughly dry before the sand is brushed in and in some cases this can take a few days depending on weather, pricing this way means you can pay for the clean after the clean is complete and the re-sanding after the sanding is complete.

Why Re-Sanding is Important
Re-Sanding after cleaning block paving is essential and not re-sanding after cleaning can cause long term problems.
This is particularly if it is pressure cleaned repeatedly and not re-sanded.
Re-sanding which is simply the process of brushing kiln dried sand across the surface so that all the gaps between the blocks are filled in with sand can be very effective at inhibiting weed re-growth.
However the main purpose for re-sanding is because it keeps block paving structurally strong and stable.
Filling the gaps with sand prevents horizontal movement of the blocks so preventing them from becoming twisted and out of shape.
Re-sanding also helps to prevent vertical movement ‘sinking’ by filling in gaps or holes that may be starting to develop under the blocks and therefore helps to maintain a level, even surface.
